I guess I’ve been living in a cave, I didn’t know that they make Gold Plated Coffee Filters.

Then again, I didn’t know that you could buy a Drive-Thru espresso stand on Amazon either!

I’ve not yet tried that new Starbucks instant, but my bf has – twice. His verdict? One test he could tell which was the instant and which was their fresh brewed store coffee, but barely. Second test, he couldn’t So apparently it’s not bad. Me, as I’ve said I prefer my coffee iced with milk (as a latte or just iced with milk — not in latte form, doesn’t matter). I’ll be trying this that way myself once I can get my hands on it, silly man had a coupon and didn’t think to bring some home for me to try.

Starbucks is now in the instant coffee business. Interesting. I may have to try it, just to see if it’s any good. I’ve actually had some okay’ish flavored instant coffees, but I really only like coffee with lots of milk. Iced. So I’m not sure how this could work out for me.

Oopsie. Starbucks double billed about 1 million customers over Memorial Day Weekend. Guess it really does pay to double check your debit / credit statements. They say it was fixed / credited for all but if you bought coffee there on a card that weekend, it never hurts to check for yourself. We do every weekend, but I’m pretty sure we didn’t get ripped off, HA!

While I love my Toddy cold brewing piece of plastic, and let’s face it, that’s what it is — a piece of plastic, a filter, and a cork — I hate cleaning it.

Just so you know.

Senseo one cup makers have been recalled due to burn risks. To see if yours is one of the ones affected and for info on how to get a replacement go here: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09194.html

I know that one of mine is recalled, my other is still packed so I need to dig it out. Lovely. Oh well, I still love them. Nobody is perfect and shhh I’ve been mostly cold brewing anyway.

It seems that we’ve discover Hillside self-heating coffee cans too late, they’re going out of business.  But we did just order two cases at a discount.  We’d found them at a grocery store tonight.  My lovely bf goofed and spilled half of his coffee in Target, so while at the grocery store he wanted a quick replacement and was going to grab a bottle of Starbucks frappuccino.  When I spotted that can he figured he’d try it and hey, it worked.  Follow the directions and then open the can and hot coffee in a can.  Very cool, err hot.  And now they’re going bye bye right when we’ve found them.

It may protect your liver?  Story here.

British Coffee Association reprimanded for claiming that coffee is good for you.  Story here.   Well, it does kind of give some people more energy though the helps a cold thing?  WTF?  Now if they’d just pointed out all of these studies, they’d probably be ok.

VASSALBORO (NEWS CENTER) — A proposal to open a topless coffee shop in Vassalboro has been approved for permit by the town planning board. (Read rest of the story here).

Really, who needless topless bars?  The coffeeshop will open at 6 and I bet it’s cheaper than a topless bar!

Raise high the coffee bean! Good news, coffee-drinkers: a new study shows your beverage of choice may lower your chances of getting oral, esophageal and pharyngeal (back-of-the-throat) cancer. (Rest of Story HERE).

See!  Always a new story on how good coffee is!  We’ll ignore the bad ones ;)

The Federation of Colombian Coffee Growers has launched a multimillion dollar lawsuit against cartoonist Mike Peters, over a Jan. 2 “Mother Goose and Grimm” strip that jokes of a link between Colombian coffee with crime syndicates.   (Rest of story HERE).

Err, that’s not nice, though I’m not sure it’s worthy of a $20 million lawsuit.  Now cartoonists will be asking for a bailout!
