SO I wake up and my bf runs to the kitchen in front of me saying “I got you a treat”.  I’m not very awake and find him running in front of sleepy me kind of annoying.  Then he pulls this can out of the fridge…

Now I’m a little curious, but come on it’s coffee… in a can.  And more curious when he tells me he got it from the Japanese store up the street and if I like it, well it’s easy to get because that store is so close and it’s less than $1 a can.  Come on now.  Coffee in a can for less than $1.  And then he adds it’s sweet too.  Sure.  So basically he’s telling me it’s my frappuccinos in a can from Japan?   Well now I’m thinking I’m gonna wanna spit it out when I drink it, too good to be true or something.

Let’s start with the basics — the can, nice simple design you’d see in your grandma’s pantry in the 70s, heh.  I feel a little ripped off I googled it.  I want the anime cans!  But yeah.  Original blend with Milk blah blah blah… the pioneer of the canned liquid coffee in Japan… umm as opposed to the canned solid coffee? ;)  Ok anyway… sorry.  The ingredients are things you can pronounce, something not often seen in American products — Water, Sugar, Milk Powder, Coffee, Emulsifier.  Calories 140 from fat 10.

And…. the verdict?  It tastes good!  So if you happen to have a Japanese store nearby give it a try.  Sorry to those of you who live in culturally boring areas, HA!  But sorry, if you’re left out, you can always just read the wikipedia page on canned coffee so you feel as though you’re one of the cool kids too.

A new report says that coffee drinkers might live longer.  Of course I won’t get too excited.  We all know with one report comes a follow up report explaining that while that one might be true, this counter report explains why it doesn’t matter because something else in said food or drink will cause us to die twice as fast.  But hey, for today down those coffees and if anyone says you’re drinking too much of it, say you’re doing it for your health.

OMFG!  I just discovered that Starbucks’ doubleshot light is sweetened with Splenda.  I pretty much stopped drinking soda when 7up decided to stop offering a splenda version though I occasionally drink one of my BF’s diet coke’s because — sweetened with splenda.  I don’t like having too much sugar.  And whether the stories are true or not (and yes I realize every sweeter can be bad) Splenda appears to be the one with the least warnings etc, so I feel best about using it if getting low calorie sugar free stuff.  So YaY Starbucks, since most other we use Splenda in our products companies I liked switched back to aspartame, which I won’t use when I’m paying attention anyway

WTF? Are they for real? Man too bad it’s about summer time in SoCal, I’d go buy a scarf or two. I had no idea they were so offensive. Actually I think it’s a cute scarf, again not really appropriate in land of sun and heat or I’d make it part of my daily wardrobe… But then Los Angeles probably isn’t full of wackos who’d call the terrorist police on me if I wear it to a coffeeshop.  Maybe we should organize a National Wear an Arab Looking Scarf to Dunkin Donuts Day.

Ugh.  Seriously shouldn’t we beyond such ignorance?  A scarf in a coffee ad?…

So can you figure out the secret of the coffee cup?

RIght, I do love Coffee Bean’s Coffee Extract, but it’s $12.95 a liter and it is so rare that I go to Coffee Bean, so blech. Yeah, I know how to use Google, thanks. But usually what I find is that it’s just as expensive online and there are so few options. But today I hit the jackpot, I hope. Today I fould N.O. Brew, and I ordered a 64 oz. bottle of their traditional iced coffee and a 64 oz bottle of their mocha iced coffee. That’s right, 128 oz of extract for $25.50 with shipping. 67.6 oz would have cost me $25.90 locally at Coffee Bean before taxes.

If this is good, I’ll have a new favorite online shop and will be sure to talk about it here and if it or their service sucks you’ll hear about it. But I’m hopeful.. Please be good. Please be good. Pleeeeeeeease!

A Christian organization calling itself “The Resistance” has released the following press release:

Starbucks has recently introduced a new version of their logo which features a topless mermaid with her legs spread, which has caused outrage from a nation wide Christian media watchdog organization. The Resistance, with has over 3000 members nationwide, is boycotting Starbucks across the country saying their new logo is inappropriate.

The Starbucks logo has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute, explains Mark Dice, founder of the group. Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves, Slutbucks.

Get a clue.  Iced Coffee.  Sell it.  Everywhere.  I don’t mean coffeehouses.  I mean for home use *nods*  Coffee Bean does sell Coffee Extract, for a lot… And I rarely go to Coffee Bean.  So basically I get to make up tons of cups of coffee to refrigerate (because umm yeah I have an espresso maker and a pod coffee maker).  What I wouldn’t give to be able to buy chilled coffee… just coffee.  I like frappuccinos (yeah I probably mutilated that spelling, so?).  But I don’t always want that oh so good sugary crap! ;)  I just want something to add to my soy milk.  Just coffee.  If Coffee Bean can sell extract surely some grocery stores can.  So VONS, get on that, before I go grocery shopping next weekend, k, thanks!

I want iced coffee!  Err ok so I made some, but it’s not the same really, I can’t just make one cup because I know I’ll want some tomorrow and the next day and would rather not go through it every day.  If I bitch about this enough will someone hear?  Doesn’t anyone else drink coffee iced at home?
