RIght, I do love Coffee Bean’s Coffee Extract, but it’s $12.95 a liter and it is so rare that I go to Coffee Bean, so blech. Yeah, I know how to use Google, thanks. But usually what I find is that it’s just as expensive online and there are so few options. But today I hit the jackpot, I hope. Today I fould N.O. Brew, and I ordered a 64 oz. bottle of their traditional iced coffee and a 64 oz bottle of their mocha iced coffee. That’s right, 128 oz of extract for $25.50 with shipping. 67.6 oz would have cost me $25.90 locally at Coffee Bean before taxes.

If this is good, I’ll have a new favorite online shop and will be sure to talk about it here and if it or their service sucks you’ll hear about it. But I’m hopeful.. Please be good. Please be good. Pleeeeeeeease!

A Christian organization calling itself “The Resistance” has released the following press release:

Starbucks has recently introduced a new version of their logo which features a topless mermaid with her legs spread, which has caused outrage from a nation wide Christian media watchdog organization. The Resistance, with has over 3000 members nationwide, is boycotting Starbucks across the country saying their new logo is inappropriate.

The Starbucks logo has a naked woman on it with her legs spread like a prostitute, explains Mark Dice, founder of the group. Need I say more? It’s extremely poor taste, and the company might as well call themselves, Slutbucks.

Starbuck cup, naughty mermaid?

I kind of like her, guess I’m going to hell :P

Get a clue.  Iced Coffee.  Sell it.  Everywhere.  I don’t mean coffeehouses.  I mean for home use *nods*  Coffee Bean does sell Coffee Extract, for a lot… And I rarely go to Coffee Bean.  So basically I get to make up tons of cups of coffee to refrigerate (because umm yeah I have an espresso maker and a pod coffee maker).  What I wouldn’t give to be able to buy chilled coffee… just coffee.  I like frappuccinos (yeah I probably mutilated that spelling, so?).  But I don’t always want that oh so good sugary crap! ;)  I just want something to add to my soy milk.  Just coffee.  If Coffee Bean can sell extract surely some grocery stores can.  So VONS, get on that, before I go grocery shopping next weekend, k, thanks!

I want iced coffee!  Err ok so I made some, but it’s not the same really, I can’t just make one cup because I know I’ll want some tomorrow and the next day and would rather not go through it every day.  If I bitch about this enough will someone hear?  Doesn’t anyone else drink coffee iced at home?

Hazelnut to be exact. I must admit, while I AM addicted to coffee, I’m not a fan of just coffee. It has to be iced, well the occasional hot latte, but even in winter I prefer iced. And yes it’s those “girly” drinks. Lots of milk, sometimes mochas. No black coffee for me. So perhaps I’m almost the reverse of a coffee snob? It seems like coffee snobs tend to be the ones who are very picky about certain roasts, flavours, blends, whatever. Me? Throw some coffee / espresso and a bunch of milk with some ice and maybe a syrup or chocolate in a cup and I’m happy.

That said, McDonalds iced hazelnut = Yummmy Yummy in my tummy. Yeah, I said it. I might even try the plain iced coffee next time I’m at a McDonalds. I’ll probably skip vanilla though.

Oh, did I say I’m NOT a coffee snob? I am I guess. I’ve found two flavours I don’t think work well in iced coffees = vanilla and honey. I’ve tried the vanilla ones at Starbucks and meh, they just don’t work for me. And also at Starbucks they had a honey latte I thought sounded interesting especially when I was getting over a cold, honey is good for sore throats right? Ohh, honey and iced coffees at least do NOT mix. Not sure about hot ones, but the iced experience was enough to make me not want to find out.

I am pretty sure that every regular employee at our local Starbucks knows my regular drink and Brian’s by heart and most know our names. We might be addicts, even though we only go on weekends usually. Though, I’m kind of evil, I through them for a loop at times and *gasp* dare to order something different where as Brian can pretty much only drink a venti latte with 2 sweet and lows or he might die.

I’m also thinking of redoing the coffee cup logo for this very page as I really did rush it and when my mommy person isn’t busy someday teaching her how to use her log in so she can post some coffee recipes… hmm…

Who out there has tried this?  I keep hearing McDonalds coffees are good and cheaper than your average coffeehouse coffees.  I almost only drink iced lattes and mochas myself with the occasional hot one (hey I live in California, I can drink iced year round).   I don’t make it to McDonalds very often though, and sorry to the Starbucks haters but my local one has some great employees, knows our names and drinks by heart, and gives us discounts.  Someday I’ll try McDonalds iced coffees, but if anyone out there has tried them and has an opinion, I’d love to hear it.  I mean, is McDonalds now a real coffeehouse?

Yeah so, I admit, my coffee maker doesn’t look like this but if there were a power outage we’d all be wishing we had such a simple set up, wouldn’t we? Highwave’s Fresh Brew might be worth checking out for the very reason. I supposed you could attempt to hold the filters over a cup yourself, but if you do, let me know how that works out for you ;)

Highwave Fresh Brew

*note* my lovely boyfriend pointed out not everyone knows how to get hot water without power… I stand by my post and will assume your caveman/woman instincts would kick in and allow you to figure out how to get some hot water.

See it’s not just for drinking.  That’s right, it’s a watercolour too!  I’m not so sure that my boyfriend would appreciate me using coffee as paint.  He’s wants to move across the street from a coffeehouse but is afraid that if we do, he’d go bankrupt.  Can you imagine how thrilled he’d be if I tempted him with the smell of coffee in the house 24/7 and then announced “Sorry I’m using that for a painting, don’t drink it”.

Anyway, if the video appealed to you and you’d like to own some coffee art of your own then wander on over to  Angel and Andy’s website: http://www.justcoffeeart.com.  Of course if you’re on a budget  they sell prints too - coffee aroma on those not included.

But wait, what’s that?  You’re an art snob?  If you’re going to own a print it’s going to be of a classic, perhaps the Mona Lisa.  Well then  coffee-art.com might have the solution.  Site owner Karen, also uses coffee in her art, but  has reproduced some of the most identifable pieces of art and so yes, you can buy a print of the Mona Lisa, sorry, Mona Latte.

Alternatively you can always just run down to your nearest dollar store, find some cheap coffee (I wouldn’t waste the good stuff on this), and create your own masterpiece!

Ok, don’t get me wrong, I have morals. I’m quite sad to discover (a bit late, I admit) that Coffee Bean was sued for not being handicap accessible. You can read all about that here. But will I do something silly like say boycott them? Hell no. And before anyone jumps on me about bad business practices, blah blah blah, keep in mind I live in California and occasionally go to Coffee Bean…. AND I have handicap parking which I have to use there as they have no parking to speak of. Like I said, I have morals, I feel for those people. But you know what I also shop at Wal Mart now and then and I go to Starbucks every week! Yeah… Sue me.

But you see Coffee Bean offers me a product I can never find anywhere else and it’s a MUST HAVE! Read the rest of this entry »
